Ted, Deb, Emily and Anna

A few weeks ago I got a phone call from one of my favorite people. She and her husband were about to have their second child, and asked me to photograph her belly. Though family photography is not really my specialty, I couldn’t mess with tradition. And now the tradition certainly continues….

Back in November 2008, Deb called me to do the exact same thing just days before Emily was to be born (that’s Deb in my ‘people’ gallery). Twenty three days later, Emily arrived. I delivered the image proofs to Ted and Deb while they were still in the hospital. This go-round, not much has changed. I photographed her and the family 28 days ago. Little Anna Claire was born this morning at 5:45 am and I hear everyone is doing well. And once again, with a better system, I have ‘delivered’ the proofs while they are still in the hospital. Congratulations to their family.

Emily is pretty much the cutest little girl in the world. She’s a little shy at first but once she warms up it’s pretty hard to resist her. While I was photographing mom in the living room, she stood right behind me and watched the whole time. At one point, she disappeared into her bedroom and came back out with a toy camera. She studied my moves and proceeded to mimic my actions – to the point where when I went vertical, she did too – when I stood on a chair, she grabbed her bench and stood on it. I like that little girl, she’s alright in my book.
